Gilead Congregational Church

United Church of Christ

Members are received into the life of the Gilead Church twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall.  Dates are set by our Board of Deacons.

There are two gatherings before new members are received.  One is an informal gathering following worship services and the second is an informational gathering held on a Saturday morning.  New members then join through a liturgy of welcoming during a 10:00 a.m. worship service.

Baptism is the only requirement for membership and the liturgy of welcoming is a reaffirmation of one’s baptism.

We are informal about membership at the Gilead Church and friends of the church are invited to all worship services, fellowship activities, faith formation events and mission activities.  The only things those who are not members cannot do is to vote at meetings of the congregation or serve on a board or committee of the church.

Questions about membership can be directed to the Pastor or to one of our Deacons.
