Gilead Congregational Church

United Church of Christ

Stewardship at the Gilead Church is about the whole our lives; being stewards of all of the time, talents and treasure that God has given us.

About once a month, our Stewardship Committee invites members and friends of our congregation to share their “Journey of Faith.”  This is a way for us to get to know one another, and to give testimony to our faith and the stewardship of our lives.

In the fall of every year, our Nominating Committee seeks members to fill positions on our Boards and Committees that carry out our mission and ministries.  The positions are officially voted on at our Annual Meeting on the first Sunday of November.  People begin to serve their terms in January of the following year.  Most positions are for a three year term.  Most also allow people to serve a second three year term if they’d like.  Following that, they must go off a Board or Committee for one year before joining the Board or Committee again.

Our Stewardship Committee also engages the congregation in a Stewardship Campaign every November. Members and friends are asked to consider making a pledge (financial) commitment to the church for the coming year.  97% of our church’s operating budget comes from the giving of members and friends.  Making a pledge allows the church the ability to plan to meet our ministry and mission commitments.  Pledge cards are available in the front and back of the Sanctuary, and offering envelopes are available on the table just outside of the Sanctuary.  Our Assistant Treasurer, Joan Cordier, provides annual giving statements for tax purposes.  If such a report would be helpful to you, please speak with Joan who will assign a number so your giving can be tracked in our church's software system.
