February 27                                                              1 Corinthians 8:  1-13

One of my frailties over the course of my life has been my propensity to impose my thoughts and ideas on others.  This is in addition to my unwillingness to listen to and respect the viewpoints of others.  I have come to realize that at the root of my fault is my own insecurity.  The way I act has served my ego well and sometimes allowed me to go around with a “swelled head.”  It is like I know it all.

Today’s scripture lesson, Paul’s first letter to the people of Corinth, makes us aware that the only one who knows it all is God.  Paul reminds us that we must be sensitive to the fact that we are not all of the same level of understanding.  Love, understanding, and acceptance of others is reflective of God’s purpose for us.  There are many paths to finding God.  Sometimes these paths may be confusing.  What is right for me may not be right for you.  However, no matter which path we select, we will be led to God.  To paraphrase Yankee great, Yogi Berra, “….when you come to a fork in the road, take it….”  No matter which road you take, be assured of God’s love.
