Prayer Shawls
This ongoing ministry provides shawls for members and friends as they face transition and illness. We are always in need of people to help make these shawls. Please see Jane Straut or the church office for more information and lessons!

Covenant to Care
Mission Statement
Covenant to Care is dedicated to improving the lives of Connecticut's abused and neglected children through the acquisition and distribution of community resources, mentoring, and foster and adoptive family recruitment.
Birthday Gift Program
For over five years our church has provided over 90 birthday gifts for these special young people. Thank you for caring and sharing from your heart!
Adopt a Social Worker Program
This program is a statewide child neglect, prevention, and intervention project that provides congregations with the opportunity to respond to the increasing crises of child neglect and abuse in their own communities. A supportive relationship is developed between the religious community and a Social Worker from DCF (Department of Children and Families) by providing support, goods, and services to abused and neglected children and their families in the care of our adopted social worker.

Since November 1994, our church has worked closely with our adopted Social Worker to help provide for the needs of the DCF children in the Manchester area. In July 2000, Antonio Rozie was adopted as our present Social Worker. Antonio has twenty young people in his care. The Board of Missions oversees the Covenant To Care program with Nancy Bennett and Peggy Gasper serving as church liaisons.
Alternative Gift Catalog
There is an alternative way to help children in need with the new Alternative Gift Catalog. The catalog includes items that you may purchase that will "directly benefit the precious children that Covenant to Care exists to serve". There is something you can "give" to a member of your circle of loved ones for a gift at Christmas, for a birthday, or a special occasion. They will receive a card from you stating that you have purchased a gift (of choice) for a child in need in their name.

Catalogs are now available at our church in the Social Hall. Order forms are included in the book for direct purchasing from CTC. Please speak with Nancy Bennett if you have any questions.

Music and Dance
The Gilead Congregational Church is blessed with many opporutinities to participate in music and dance. There are groups for the young, the old, and the in between. If you have any questions about any of the Groups, please contact the Church Office.
Adult Choir
Adult Choir is led by Marianne Vogel. They meet each Wednesday at 7:30 PM to rehearse for the upcoming Sunday. The choir loft was expanded for additional seating, so there is plenty of room for more members! We welcome "seasonal" members and would love to have additional voices. Please Join Us!
Gilead Instrumentalists
The Instrumentalist Groups are open to all ages and skill levels. The group even has some spinoffs. There is a flute group and a bass group that perform on their own. The groups are led by Marianne Vogul. They rehearse on Sundays when there is an upcoming performance.
Youth Choir
The Youth Choir is led by Marianne Vogel and is open to all youth 4th grade and higher. They practice every Sunday after Sunday School at 11:15 in the Sanctuary. Please come and join!
Children's Choir
Our Board of Christian Education will be offering music to our younger children as part of an opening time in our Fellowship Hall before children go to their Sunday School classes.
Liturgical Dance
Currently the dance is not being offered. If you are interested in helping with this ministry, please contact the church office. Thank you!

Lantern Mentoring Program
The Lanterns Mentoring Program sponsored by AHM Youth Services, Inc. is looking for volunteers who would be willing to serve as mentors during the 2003-2004 school year. Mentors meet with an elementary age student during lunch-time one hour per week and during this time they can play games, read, do craft activities, talk and be a friend to a child. All meetings take place on the school grounds in Andover, Hebron or Marlborough, according to the mentor's preference.
If interested in finding out more about this volunteer opportunity, please call Program Coordinator, Sara Cimbaro at 228-9488.
